Another Christmas has been and gone and 2008 has seen us receive more enquiries in the first week back than the total received for the whole of January 2007!  Is this because travel broadens the mind or because our government are hell bent on forcing us out of the country one way or another?

First time buyers are finding it so hard to get onto the property ladder, many of them between the age of 18 and 25 years, are now being referred to as BARBies - Buy Abroard Rent Britain.

With UK house prices still at an all time high, despite the highest interest rates for years, it is getting harder and harder for first time buyers to save a deposit whilst renting and earn the necessary salaries required to obtain a decent mortgage.  Basically, if you don't have a £10,000 deposit and a £30,000 a year salary then it's no go - sorry, and that's for a £100,000 property!

UK property prices have stagnated over the last year but with the whole economy slowing down, how long will it be before interest rates are dropped? Every month, the country awaits notice that the bank of England have reduced it's rates. How often do we see a rise in property prices when interest rates fall? This can only further add to the misery of 1,000's looking to get onto the property ladder.

A recent survey in the Estate Agency Times showed that 84% of the people questioned between the ages of 18 and 25 believe it is easier to buy a property abroard that in the UK, with 43% of those opting for Spain as their country of choice.
